In short, i just want to say that it’s great to serve God with great friends around! On top of that, not missing out on those ties that were made along the years! However, certain things don’t change, people need God’s love!
whee whee!
hoehoehoe
This happens to be my first pile of papers which later ended up at some black trash bag!
After much hardwork of packing, unpacking and thrashing things around, i finally sorted out all my sermons and lesson which happens to be what ya just saw!
Despite throwing all things, i decided to keep some books!
Well, this is another pile of papers and whatever you see there!
Apparently, i threw away approximately 6 full trash bags filled with papers and books only. Gosh, then i was having some small talks with my dad while disposing all irrelevant stuffs in my current stage of life about how much papers i have used ever since i went to JC and i was deeply astounded by such horrendous heaps of trees.
All in all, i have finally cleared all those useless materials. Honestly, i am glad about it! At least, my room doesn’t look like some jungle!
I have been wanting to make the following post that you are about to read since at least 6 months back, but due to the dominating A levels it hindered my progress. More like, i felt that it was not a worth opportunity cost!
I shall be entitled my JC life :
If i were to describe my JC education life in a short pharse it would be, a love-hate relationship.
Amidst all my education life till today, i think JC experience would be one that i truly enjoy and appreciate. Life in CJC and ODAC definitely taught me lessons where i may not be able to get from elsewhere. I fostered friendships of a different kind such as IG30, T29, T20, ODAC and not forgetting SC! Honestly, all the friendships fostered taught me a great deal in comprehending how people feel, understanding what’s in the world, experiencing the enjoyable side of life and not forgetting the laughter’s! Of the many memories created, what is deeply embedded in my heart would be from ODAC and IG30! Surely, the have left great imprints on my heart! Let me first begin with ODAC. ODAC was one of the motivating reason why i choose to stay in CJ despite the other choices, for it’s a CCA that i have all along wanted. I always desired for greater challenges- which means putting my life at stake, and running long distances! I would confidently say that CJC odac is no doubt the best in Singapore not only because it has won many medals but Mr Lim taught us such valuable lessons that i doubt others will. To be frank, i find that he’s a teacher that goes beyond his job descriptions because of all the exceptionally long letters he typed for all of us which vents his frustrations and sharing his joy with us! If there was one word i would use to describe him would be, passion. Till date, i haven’t found any teacher much more passionate them him. He loves mountain, taxonomy(which i detest), earth history and so much more. More than a liking, he expresses his love by sharing such lessons with us. His love pushes him to seek for more sights by bringing us to many expeditions. Every expedition cost him his family time with both his wife and two children, but i believe it is passion that pushes him to give up his precious time to us. I doubt he will ever read this, but certainly he is one teacher that has impacted my life.
If i were to summarize what i can remember off hand about what he has taught us:
CAMC- CANNOT ALSO MUST CAN
Odac is like a bed of roses (Carefully infer)
The more you know, the more you know you don’t know, then the more you know you need to know and the more you want to know. In the end, you will know more
Determination
Discipline
Humility
And so much more.
More than him alone, SC has been a great bunch of friends towards me in the entire course of ODAC. Gosh, i cannot imagine my life in ODAC without such people! Running would have never been great without them! I will always remember the SC run back from CCAB while it was pouring heavily! Crazy people! Those morning runs- which i sometimes fail to attend because i overslept, level runs, bukit timah, EXPEDITIONS (HOW CAN I LIVE WITHOUT THEM!!!), runs to CCK, grandstands training, 40 stories sprint and so much more! SC have made my life in CJ enjoyable. They are a huge portion of my motivation of going to each training, though i usually fall asleep at a certain part.
In any case, it has certainly been the most enjoyable part of my JC life. Well, some may say that CCA hinders you in JC life but i will say it enriches my life not shit (another ODAC quote). Simply put, ODAC has been the BEST CCA in my life!
Next up, IG30! My first social interactions friends begins here. They are my first orientation group mates, and i can always vividly remember that we were the FIRST AND ONLY IG that went out during day one! How cool can that be? We bonded extremely well! More than that, can ya believe this IG30 though only lasted for 7 days has maintained our friendship till today! While most other IG has eroded.
But honestly, i love this group of friends! It was in this IG where both ups and downs were made in my life, but certainly it has formed priceless memories for myself! Come next week, we are once again having out IG30 outing!
The rest of the memories happened in the T29 and T20! Oh yeah! How can i forget my beloved CLB CLASS! Gosh, way fantastic people! Birthdays are the only reason why the class has full attendance! Every lesson with LAO SHI was enjoyable because we were fools! Ponning CLB is rather common and usually we get caught by LAO SHI. Dennies was certainly the BEST CLB rep! Sadly, she left like in J2! But i must certainly give her credits for all the efforts she made for our entire CLB class!
In short if i were to list out the names of people who made my life in CJ so enjoyable it would be as follows:
CJC BATCH X ODAC (Everyone) – i am not kidding!
Agatha, Andrew, Alston, Bernie, Chang Yong, Charmaine Daniel, Eirene, Eugene Lim, Eugene Tan, Hong Taa, Hong Zhou, Jethro, Jerome, Joel, Joseph, Jun Khiang, Kannan, Kar Jun, Lester, Marcus, Nicole, Roderick Samantha, Serenella, Shuxian, Victoria, Yangwei
SC: Agatha, Alston, Charmaine, Eugene Tan, Joseph, Jun KhiaJoseph, Jun Khiang,Kar Jun, Lester,Samantha!
IG30:
Evadne, agatha, shu xian, keley, hayley, li hui, nerissa, mei, joe, dominic, shiyu, jon, algae, jason, alston
Special thanks to Evadne, Joe and Dom who has certainly made it much more enjoyable!
For the rest who made my journey in CJ much more sweeter:
Alfred (HF), Clarance, Hong Chow, LULU, Elaine, Shu Hui, Jon Ng, Jane, Li Lian, Ben Wong, Zhou Yang, Denies, Nadine, Darly, Chester and Gerald!
For such a LONG post i only mentioned about the LOVE portion.
Now for the HATE relationship:
I totally abhor and hated the academics competition and stress induced by teachers and the surrounding environment. Frankly speaking, i would never want to touch A levels AGAIN in my life. In short, i had enough or more than enough of it! The accumulating stress has done her job to kick my butt and fried my mind with garlic and veg oil like no one else business. Well, at least now it’s over! Phew. This is the ONLY thing i hated about JC life. However, my love portion made up for it!
Cheers!
I think life in JC taught me few other spiritual truths:
Firstly, it taught how to take ownership of the decisions that i made. Secondly, it enabled me to grow closer to my relationship with God. Thirdly, it surely have helped me to learn to depend on God more.
I thank God for placing me in CJ and allowing me to experiencing such moments where i may not be able to get it elsewhere.
Lastly for the entire portion about examinations:
I guess every examinations that i sat for in CJ has prepared me for the A levels. I would say that going through this entire A levels was a success not because i maybe able to do exceeding well but i have learnt how to trust God in the midst of bombarding stress and tension.
Honestly, this entire A level examination would not have been possible without the following people:
NORTH: The entire NORTH leadership who gave me your cheers and support in this period of my life. Surely, all the EX NORTH C PLM people! Gosh, i wouldn’t have been more touched than all of your little acts of love with the overflowing exam kit! Not forgetting my beloved MIGHTY 5 and entire NORTH B! Without your prayers, i think i might be as well DEAD. Lastly, MY DMM (Shar, Joyce and DK)! Thanks for understanding and supporting me all the way!
JC: Jon, Ariel, Grace, Sandy, Tim, JASMINE LOH (for your belief and support man), Mila, Pete, Mervin, Mel, PW, LM and the list goes on…
Central: I really don’t know how we ended up as friends.. haha.
Keef, Wei Jang, Issac and Daniel Liang
East: DLCK
West: Ting
All in all, the groups of people have surely sustained me throughout the entire period! Thank you all! If there was another lesson that i will take with me from this entire exam period, it would be that friends are an imporant motivation to last through this race, though the are not the penulitmate but certaintly important! Thank you friends who were able to tolerate my irrational behaviours and cheering me on! I really appreciate those friendships formed and those sustained throughout years!
Alright, here comes to an end of my short evaluation! So on and therefore, for i look forward to my next stage of life in the POLICE FORCE on the 6th of Jan 09!
